One of my favorite things about the Texas summer heat is escaping it. And you don't have to go all the way to colorado to do it. Throughout the last couple of months, I have dedicated my weekends and holidays to exploring the oasis in the desert. aka. hotels that are as cool in design as they are in the water. So sit back, kick on the air conditioning, and dive into making some overdue plans to enjoy the summer. Here is my comprehensive list of the best and only ways to enjoy the summer, locally.
El Cosmico- Marfa, TX
Thanks to Prada, you'll probably recognize the iconic desert in West Texas. But the spot along the highway is worth more than just a photo stop for the gram. El Cosmico is a premier glamping location frosted with airstreams and succulents and complete with summer festivals and luxury tents and teepees. In other words, Marfa isn't just a stop along the way, it's the destination.
The Joule- Dallas, TX
The only difference between the crown jewels and the Joule Dallas is the spelling, because this trendy downtown space is worthy of accommodating royalty. Complete with a rooftop pool that overlooks dazzling downtown, and a restaurant that will make your brunch dreams come true, the Joule is a necessary part of anyones summer bucket list.
Hotel Zaza- Dallas, TX
Feeling a little boujee? Yeah, so is everyone else at Zaza. But with each room's unique artwork and crystal chandeliers that frost the halls, even the Bourjuasee would be eager to get their foot in the door. Worried you won't be high class enough? Don't sweat it. Because on most weekends the pool isn't just filled with Vueve. Dallas's young crowd mixes the Ra-Ra with the ZaZa and takes advantage of the cool water and cooler attendees.
The Line- Austin, TX
If the name isn't telling enough, Austin's Line hotel sets the bar for the newest place you have to be. Backed up to the river, most guest rooms have exquisit sunset views and a front row seat to bat bridge. The hotel also boasts a resort style pool, one that seems almost as inviting as the all white poolside and umbrella drinks. Outside views not enough for you? There is plenty of space at one of the hotels five restaurants to kick back and indulge in the little luxuries of living the life at the top of the line.
Whatever it is you're doing this summer, take a break. Because hard work and made that much easier with a day (or 5 ) of rest, wanderlust, and self care. Feel free to see what I mean. H.A.G.S.!!
